Dabbling in Color Headshots
February 3, 2012
I took a new series of headshots today, and I have come to the conclusion that the best light for portraits happens outside and just before a great big thunderstorm. Now, if only I could get my printer to print this without weird stripes of lighter color down the front… Anyhow, enjoy! -E.G.D.
I’m auditioning in Houston tomorrow, which is why I was bent on getting a decent color headshot. Cheers to a good start in a new town! -E.G.D.

I like this one! These colors are great on you.
My friend had them done professionally. Her results are gorgeous. Envious of another’s facebook profile pic, I asked her, and she said that one was professional too.
Thanks for dropping by, Clare! I think I really need to find a photographer who knows me next time I pay for a head shot. I had mine done professionally last time around (it’s sort of the industry-expected thing to do), and they were amazingly pretty… but really didn’t capture any of my personality. I looked like any other generic and pretty-ish blonde in a glamor-shot sort of photo. The photo on a CD (so I could print the result) including the 15 minute sitting was more than a hundred dollars, and as a woman who considers herself a character actor more than an ingenue, the result was extremely disappointing. Granted, there are a million professional photographers out there! I guess results are bound to vary.
