Up and Coming
A few snippet/dates for news and upcoming performances:
1) I have been cast to play the most complicated and sophisticated role imaginable in the Jingju (Beijing Opera) “White Snake,” which will premier in English on the Kennedy Theatre mainstage in February. I’m in some seriously intensive and demanding training for this (12-16 hours a week, not including the stuff I do at home in preparation). I’ve been at it for three weeks already, and I will be at it for the next five months (though I imagine by the later parts, what with rehearsal on top of it all, I’ll be investing a significantly larger amount of time).
2) The Hawaii Gagaku Society Moon Viewing Concert is on Oct. 2, starting at 7:30 PM in the little outdoor staging area of UHM’s music building. It’s free, everyone is welcome, and I will be playing the Ryuteki (flute) with the ensemble.
3) Today, my dance group is auditioning for the Fall Footholds dance concert. Wish us luck… or broken legs, or whatever your superstition-persuasion might dictate ^_^.
I’m impressed! You’ve managed the almost imsopsible.
